Progress on research on treatments for Alzheimer's discussed at EACPT Madrid Congress

The 12th biennial Congress of the European Association for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics ( was held  in Madrid from 27th to 30th June 2015. Over 500 abstracts were accepted from 66 countries and from all 5 continents for presentation as e-posters and oral presentations. the 54 oral presentations were eligible for awards for the best talks.

Alzheimer's disease was the focus of one of the key sessions of the Congress. Claudio Babiloni (Italy), David Bartrés-Faz (Spain), Régis Bordet (France) and Pablo Martinez-Lage (Spain) have been discussing

available treatments, why previous treatment approaches may not have worked, new biomarkers of response to treatment and a major international consortium of academic and clinical researchers and 12 pharmaceutical companies interested in better ways to move forward on successful drug development.
